Miss Selfridge here, your one and only source of autumn’s most-awaited fashion inspiration. This season, we’re channelling our inner Upper East Siders with style seriously worth gossiping about. Despite the show first airing in 2007, the clothes (and crushes) are still gaining status in our wardrobes. From kitsch co-ords to faux leather looks, we’re inspired more than ever from our favourite girl gang. While we eagerly await the reboot (due for 2021 FYI, *squeals with excitement*), read below to find out which Manhattan babe you really dress like…
Oh, where would we be without Miss Waldorf? Her on-screen presence kept us at the edge of our seats for more than just her fashion sense. Queen of the co-ord, accessories and curly-blow, copy Blair’s style by pairing a bouclé skirt suit with gold jewellery and a collared shirt. Finish your outfit with quilted bag, and of course, a headband. A look that would have Chuck Bass falling for you.
Serena Van Der Woodsen
Always at the forefront of the latest trends, Serena Van Der Woodsen served us lust-worthy looks every episode. Where Blair was more girly, Serena was more tough-chick, and well, opposites attract don’t they? Steal Serena’s style by wearing a knitted mini dress, boots and a chain belt to finish the look. Throw a tonal duster coat for when it’s a little cooler, but keep the legs on show, Van Der Woodsen style.
Little J’s style credentials certainly went from zero to 100 in the course of a few seasons. When the innocent Brooklyn-er went all punk on us, we were here for it. For an outfit that even Jenny would be jealous of, pair a faux leather mini skirt with a glittery bodysuit and boots. Accessorise with silver jewellery and a bit of an attitude and you’re ready to take the streets by storm.
Sure, we loved-to-hate Georgina’s character but we couldn’t resist her fashion. Georgina’s effortless, throw-together ensembles always left us wanting her wardrobe, and thanks to us, now you can copy it. Style leather leggings with a longline oversized tee and an aviator for a 2020 revamp. Perfect for those off-duty days swanning around the city.
If anyone knows how to pull off a Boho look, it’s Vanessa Abrams. Best friend of the Humphrey’s and ex-girlfriend of Nate Archibald, Vanessa never let the Upper East Siders sway her style agenda. Relaxed yet still high-fashion, recreate Vanessa’s style with paisley prints, a leather jacket and some trusty denim jeans. You know you love it.
XOXO, Miss Selfridge.
